Like a regular haircut, pruning is necessary for garden health. It promotes growth, shape, and supports sunlight and air circulation throughout plants. Mind the 3D rule when pruning – if a branch is dead, diseased, or damaged, it can be pruned anytime; however, never prune off more than 1/3 of the plant.
Pruning should be an ongoing part of your garden maintenance. And don’t be timid. Plants are resilient - like a bad haircut, it will grow out for you to try again.
